I need some help from Dell 2007WFP owners.
I've got a Dell 2007WFP, about 2 weeks old and it has a very annoying flicker problem. It doesn't show at the settings the monitor ships with, but as soon as you reduce the brightness down to something that is not going to burn your retinas off (oh, and is useful for colour matching in Photoshop) then it comes in to view.
A search of the internet reveals that quite a few people believe this is a design flaw of the model and no matter how many times you get it replaced, you won't get it fixed. However I also find a lot of people saying they are more than pleased with it.
What I want to know is are the happy owners those who have left the monitor at or close to the default settings and really they all have the problem.
It really shows at low brightness - down around 15 to 20% is good for showing it up. Then, get a mid-grey background - the colour you want is the one which photoshop uses as its empty space background. If yours is like mine, you'll see it straight away - a kind of shimmer or flicker.
I've tried VGA and DVI with the same result. I've tried more than one cable and as I've replaced my graphics card now, it's been tried on more than one video source. All have the same effect.
The only adjustment I can make to remove it is to put the brightness back up to at least 50% - but that is just not usable for photo work.
Mine is the latest revision too - A03. And although it has the S-IPS panel, it has some backlight bleed to the left edge. No dead/stuck pixels however.
I basically want to know if it is possible to get a "good" one. One thread I read on a forums somewhere was somebody on his 4th swap out and still had the flickering... Gah!
So - if you've got one, has it got the problem mine's got?
Thanks!
