My old 19" CRT is starting to really annoy me now and looking for a new TFT screen.

I've been liking the Dell 2007WFP, I was worried about all the banding problems that I've been reading since it came out, however I've found the A02 for £335 so that shouldn't be a problem any more.

Just wondering what you guy think of it, I'm sure there was a review of it on here but can't seem to find it LOL.

It will be used for a bit of everything really, some gaming, movies, browsing the net, photoshopping so needing it to be a good all rounder.

Hope you can help
Thanx
Dave.

Dave,

I bought one of these last Thursday evening and took delivery this afternoon. It's a A02 and am happy to say no dead pixels, no banding problems, bleed or any type of defect.

I was a bit concerned about the 16ms response but after I had a bit of a tryout this afternoon on COD 2, COD, Far Cry and Battlefield 2 I'm happy to say no lag or motion blur at all. Colours are really good, DVD's are crisp and HD content looks rather nice! My usual monitor is a Viewsonic VP730 and I think the Dell is pretty much on par in games/ DVD's etc. No problems in Photoshop, colours again look as they should and the extra workspace is great.

My 6800LE is struggling at high graphics settings at 1680 x 1050 but a 7950GX2 is on it's way as well so that'll sort that out!

Cheers

Mine arrived this morning, having ordered it last Thursday. It's the A02 revision and made in the Czech Republic.

Would be surprised if Dell were shipping A00 or A01 to current UK customers given the official acknowledgement of this issue and the logistical costs of having to ship it back, upgrading the the firmware and shipping it back to customers.

Have to say that on initial testing (have only had it for about an hour or so), I am slightly underwhelmed.

The motion blur on PixPiperAn is not a particularly noticeable improvement on my 20ms Hydis based Acer (a superb panel in its day), although ALL TFTs have a degree of motion whether they're 2ms, 3ms, TN+film or whatever.

There are twinkling effects during video playback, although the effect is less noticeable the further away you sit from the screen.

Details in dark areas of the screen aren't particularly well rendered though I yet to have an opportunity to properly calibrate the monitor. Having said that it is an improvement on my previous monitor. Shame there's no contrast adjustment on the monitor (and don't say its because of DVI-D).

Not sure why they put silver edging on the top and bottom edges of the bezel - I find it slightly distracting when watching films.

No backlight bleed on very brief inspection. Haven't done a comprehensive dead pixel check yet, but didn't notice any peculiarties during a (very brief) check. Will do a DPB check later.

Will do some more testing over the next few days including some gaming, photo work and HD stuff.

Initial thoughts are that its not a bad monitor - probably comparable to other monitors in the same price range such as the VS 2025W, Philips 2006CS etc.

I just think that TFT technology simply isn't a mature technology so maybe I'm expecting (CRT like picture) perfection where none exists.

Could any owners of the 2007W using Nvidia drivers do the following test for me?

1. Set desktop to 1280x1024
2. Menus OSD - select 1:1 pixel mapping.
3. on Desktop, NV settings, select 1680x1050

Does WinXP crash? Please also state what Nvidia drivers you're using.

Just got mine setup, yay! :D A02 revision for me as well.

I haven't noticed any banding at all in the default mode, although this may be my eyes deceiving me or not having very sensitive eyes.

I can't see any dead pixels yet, but I will investigate further.

I'll also test it out on some games to test the response time.

Edit: Yup, mine seems perfect :D Can't find anything wrong with it. I'm not really sure how to write a review-type-thing though. Can always post pictures or anything if people are interested.

I am kind of surprised that OCuk dont stock these monitors and only the standard aspect 2007 :(

Yeah I was quite suprised by that too. Maybe they will stock it in future.

I've just bought my 2007wfp off that good ol' internet auction site so hopefully it will be here tomorrow (the auction ends tonight if anyone is interested)

Looking forward to it :)

I have bit the bullet and bought it. I hope the 16ms isn't too laggy. i just like the look of this monitor but cannot justify the price of the 2407.

You won't be disappointed, at least if you are like me. :p I was a bit wary of the response time too, but so far I haven't noticed anything, but then again the sensitivity of my eyes may be quite poor considering my eyesight.

Thought I'd post some pictures for those interested.

First two general pictures (one with, one without flash - wasn't sure what was best).

Second is the monitor on but with a blank screen, attempting to show the backlight bleed (or in this case the lack of it! :D ). It may look like there is a small amount from the picture, but in reality there is next to none. So this monitor clearly does not suffer from the problems its predecessor (sp?) had.

Picture 1 (Flash): Here

Picture 2 (No Flash): Here

Picture 3 (Blank Screen):Here

Excuse the bad picture taking, I'm not very good. If anyone wants a banding image picture I can do that, but I could see (again) next to none.

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster here :)

How is this monitor at downscaling (if I have the term correct) ? I'm kinda worried how my rig will handle 1680 x 1050 in some of the more graphically intense games. Does it offer an alternative widescreen resolution, like 1440 x 900, just in case. WoW is gonna run fine in native, but I do worry about Oblivion and (looking further ahead) Crysis and Vanguard.

For the record, I have a XFX7900GT and a A64 4000+, 2gb.

Thanks in advance!
