Heya, I thought this was very interesting indeed.
I don't know about anyone else but it's exactly the sort of thing i have been looking for.
For the last few years I have been using a Dell 2407, but to be quite honest I find the display physically too large, I am actually more comfortable using my far inferior 20" Samsung 206BW for longer periods of time, I think it may be because the panel does not completely fill my vision and thus my eyes don't get so tired. Whatever the case, fact is, working in IT I do get to use a lot of different displays of various sorts, and I find 24" a bit too big for me.
Of all the different display sizes I have used I have liked the 22" the best for all-round general use, however I don't like the 1680x1050 resolution that the vast majority have used to date, it's great on a 20", nice tight pixel pitch and sharp picture but it just doesn't look right on a 22" display to me. Not to mention the fact that I have simply gotten used to using 1920x1200 and going down in res is a hard thing to do.
So now it looks like Dell are answering my prayers, for a high quality 22" display with a nice high resolution and thus a good tight pixel pitch.
I do know of the Lenovo L220X, it peeked my interest as soon as it launched, but, unfortunately, as good as it is, I require 2 digital inputs, be that 2 x DVI or 1 x DVI and 1 x HDMI. And thus the Lenovo was not suitable, only having 1 x DVI and 1 x VGA.
I have been quite interested in these new super high res 1920x1080 22" and 2048x1152 23" displays that have just started to appear as they have a good high res and the required digital inputs. But, I would prefer not to use a TN Film panel if I can avoid it. Although to be honest for 99% of my pc usage I do not require the superior viewing angles of IPS or PVA nor do I require perfect colour fidelity, although it's nice to have!
This was just a heads-up post, letting you all know that such a display is about to come out into the wild. So if you have similar needs to me, you may well like this one.
Finally, does anyone have any idea when this might be making it’s way to the UK?
Edit: I just looked a little more closely and realised that this has a 1680x1050 resolution. Damn it, damn it, damn it and double damn it. Sorry if I got anyone excited there, still it does look like a nice display. Although I will have to go back to the drawing board as I really want a higher resolution myself. TN-Film 2048x1150 is looming large now.
