Dell 2209WA and a PS3?

Has anyone tried this? I'm thinkinh about getting the monitor and a HDMI->DVI cable for the PS3. Only thing I can see wrong with the idea is that the Dell isn't 1080p so how would you run a console through it? Does it downscale then stretch the picture upwards or does it have 1:1 pixel mapping so black bars appear but the picture doesnt stretch?

You don't need the slightly better colour reproduction of this panel type for playing PS3 games. Just get a screen that supports 1080p and has a HDMI port. Any of the Samsungs are fine.
