I have one sat next to me here at work.

What settings should be set so i can read text clearly and the brightness wont melt my eyes like my samsung did on default settings!

Someone on here recommended these, but what is best to use? - Or is it just personal preference?

Brightness 10
Contrast 70
Sharpness 40 or 50
Dynamic Contrast - off

Yep, those are my settings from another thread and it is a preference thing but the core list above is pretty much adopted by most users.

Most ppl experiment within about 10% of the above settings and then adjust the colour settings to their own personal preference.

fantastic. Colours seem a lot better than the Samsung 2433bw i had before, obviously the res is less but that doesnt really bother me.

Build quality is 10 times better, the stand, buttons and menu screen are better quality. I didnt need to apply maximum force to get the stand onto the screen and it doesnt wobble around all over anymore

I take it the swivel only goes clockwise? I tried anti but doesnt seem to want to go.

How do you make the screen 'swivel' when you have the screen titled?

Im using 10 brightness and 65 contrast at the moment

By swivel I take you mean turning to portrait (swivel on back of monitor), yes that will only turn one way then back again. The screen can be turned if tilted, just be aware of any physical obstructions (such as cables caught in the cable tidy) and also that the pivot point is on the back of the screen itself. The swivel on the base should turn both ways.

IF you use the LCD calibration here, you'll probably find that you won't be far off an ideal setup. Try it with a TN panel too, just for a laugh.

im currently using B:0 C:75 S:40 DC: off, however on the logom tests i cannot display the first black square and the last 2 white squares in the Black level White saturation tests :( other than that the monitor is perfect.

interesting, using those settings i cannot see the first black square and last white.

Just been reading and one review recommends 50% contrast. Will try this later but i have a feeling it will look wrong

'However, if contrast is reduced to 50%, the problem with color curve mostly disappears. Since this has beneficial effect to our other principal objection, we would highly recommend this setting. At contrast 50%, brightness 0%, the monitors brightness is about 80 cd/m2, which exactly matches the sRGB standard requirements, color curves are acceptable, and this is even low enough to watch movies in dark room (72 cd/m2 is maximum brightness for the purpose). At this setting the contrast is 533:1, which is also acceptable'

tried contrast at 50 and it meant i couldnt view the first 3 black squares and the last 3 white squares :( i find the colours atm on my settings are acceptable and probs stick with this.

Got my 2209WA yesterday and tried the setting proposed here and very happy with it. Very beautiful screen - both the screen itself and the display.

After seeing the difference between a TN and IPS for the first time myself I do feel the difference in money when you look at 24" screens is just too much if you just use it for general usage and gaming. This 22" is well priced so the better picture is worth it.

Is it just my eyes or does it seem a bit dimmer when you first turn it on then it gets brighter? I havent got any auto contrast settings or anything turned on

Yes I've noticed this too, I think it must be the back lighting warming up, it only takes a couple of minutes at most to get to full brightness for me though.
