I bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago.

I am generally impressed with the monitor over my samsung.

I do however have one niggling issue, which when i checked on Dells support site, is a known issue.

It's similar to the old CRT days when you got screen burn in.

If I surf the net for anything over an hour and then close all windows and just have the desktop, I can see a ghost image of the top of the browser window (lines and boxes etc).

I basically see a faint image of the top right boxes (minimise, maximise, etc) and lines where the edge of the window box was.

Rebooting machine or monitor does not get rid of this annoying ghost image.

I've never seen this issue on any other LCD monitor.

Dell suggest exercising the panel for anywhere from 1hour to days....... using the built in function on the monitor called 'LCD conditioning'.

I had to run it for at least 2 hrs to remove the ghost image but after another hour of web surfing, its back....

So I'm asking other owners of this model if they have had this issue?????

Also, does anyone know if it's a trait of a e-ips type of panel. I've also noticed that the screen gets very hot compared to my old samsung, probably due to this type of panel.

Can't comment on the burn but my screen does get very hot compared to my old hyundai's, then again they had the powerbrick in the base rather than behind the screen and it's still not as toasty as the 32" in the living room.

What setting are you using?

Most ppl favour approx - 10 Brightness and 70 contrast. If you're using the default settings it may be that the high brightness setting is causing the temporary faint ghosting/burn mark.

I've not noticed this on either of my two - but then i changed from the default setting straight away.

It's either one or a combination of the following:

You've got the brightness ans contrast maxed out.
Your panel is getting very hot.
It's a refurb model and it's older than you think.
It's faulty.

Have had mine for about 2 months now and not notixced what you have experienced.

Actually had my brightness at 70 too - have just changed this to 25 :)
