Has anyone had any experience running the FPW2405 with an apple mac G5.
Or would I be better off with the 23" Apple Panels. I have heard there were problems running the Apple panels on PCs, Just interested to know if there were any similar problems running Dell panels on macs.

I've read of many mac users saying the Dell screens were far superior to the Mac ones for Mac use, but further than that I don't know.

Thanks guys

That bearfeats article was certainly interesting. Just goes to show that beauty is only skin deep.

I run a 2405 on my PC at home, and I certainly love this display. I've been asked by my boss to spec up new kit so hopefully there will be an order coming overclockers way for 4 of these beauties.

lol. If you read the reviews most of these panels are the same internals. The Dell 20" is the same panel as the mac. You pay for the allu finish on the mac. When I got my 20" there was no good dell option. I would get the 2405 over the 23" mac but only because of connections. When you see them in the flesh you cannot deny that the mac has rich deep blacks and no one seems to complain about backlight bleeding in the way Dell users do.

Hi, mates! First post here.

I've drooled over the 2405fpw for my Mac for ages. Finally went and picked one up on eBay. In a word? LOVE IT. It works perfectly on the Mac and both OS X and the LCD support each other (the Mac has a Colorsync profile for the 2405 and the 2405 has a Mac gamma setting).

The desktop is huge. UT, Call of Duty and Quake III are all very sweet.

I have it hooked up to a flashed PC ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. USB 2.0 card in the ol' Quicksilver for the iPod and display reader(s).

While I love the Apple displays - there's no way in hell I'm paying that much for nothing more than a DVI connection. The Dell is way cheaper, allows so many more connections, has card readers... Sure, I'd love the alu chassis, but not for that premium.

Anyway - you'll love this display.

I just want to add... I'm using a calibrated Colorsync profile set to PC gamma (2.2) and I've set the 2405 to custom color settings; R36, G33, B32 (as seen everywhere) with the brightness turned down to 40 (darkened room).

Since I publish to the Web, I set the gamma to the PC side rather than Mac. I might go to 2.0 over 2.2, but we'll see... I don't like the warmer feel of 1.8.
