I recently returned my 2405 back to dell because the stand broke, it was a refurb because my original went wrong.

Anyway they sent me a replacement 2405 today, and i swear its darker that my last monitor. My last refurb was a A05 (same as my original), but this one has a sticker on the back saying A05, you peal it back a bit and you can see it was originally an A01 monitor.

Is there anyway i can check for sure what panel this is? I might give them a ring tomorrow and tell them its not as bright as my last panel and see what they can do :/

afaik, the 2405FPW only ever used the same Samsung PVA panel, the LTM240M1-L01. Brightness variation could be related to backlighting units, and if it's a refurb, perhaps the lights have been on for longer than your previous model and so are a little "older". It#'s probably possible to get it looking similar to before with calibration if you have a way of achieving that

Update: Told dell i wasn't that happy with the replacement and they swapped it out for a refurb 2407WFP. Kind of a result as its an upgrade from a 2405 :)
Their CS and monitor warranty seems to be really good!
