Argh, I've never ever experiened this before but it appears my screensaver (!) has left an imprint on my screen !!!!!!

I use the following screensaver http://blog.pixelbreaker.com/polarclock/, and have done for months now.

And some of the dials never move (i.e. the year/month/day)... I must've left the PC on for a few hours and for some odd reason I had power management set to never turn the screen off... so this screensaver was playing for hours. I've had it playing for hours before but this time I noticed (against the OCUK forum background that an imprint has been left there!).

That was yesterday after switching on the pc again today it's not as bad but still visible if you squint hard enough.

Guess I should have either used a less static screensaver or just set power management to switch the monitor off :o

Just thought I'd warn anyone else that screen burn is still a very real problem and it can happen !!! :p

Edit: and having just read that link for the screensaver it seems there is a warning at the bottom - doh :o

I dont think they can burn but they do remember an image, and its supposed to be reversable.

You would need Google for info same as I would have too.

I dont know why ppl dont set there system to put there screen to standby mode when been idle for 10mins or whatever. It saves the screen from being bunt and extends the life of the monitor.

People tend to disable the monitor going to standby mode since that can be highly irritating when watching movies.

Well with xp while I watching tv through my tvcard the display dont go into standby. But ever since Ive used vista it always goes into standby mode while watching tv

Any1 else has this prob under vista using a "compro T300 TVCard"??

harsh

yeah burn in must suck. a good combatant is using OS X's fadey image slideshow screensaver no pixels are the same colour for longer than a couple of seconds. and it looks dope.
