dell 2405 which GFX>>

If you have PCI-E you could do a lot worse than the XFX 7800GT Extreme Edition from OcUK for £176 plsu delivery. Fits your budget and is a very nice card all round. I downgraded from one to a 7600GT as I only game at 1280 x 1024, so I think that would do a decent job mate.

This Week Only Offer Is Actually:

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)

Price: £164.95 (£193.82 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Easily the best bang per buck card!

Sadly, "£190", "good for gaming" and "Dell 2405" do not fit well in the same sentence :(
He's right. Mixing a 2405 with sub-standard graphics cards is like buying Denon/Arcam amps and using Comet budget RCA/speaker cables.

but doesnt the Nvidia 7800GT support 2560x1600? and the optimum on the 2405 is 1920 x 1200

Yes, all these cards support massive resolutions, meaning that the card will drive a screen of that resolution.

Unfortunately, this doesn't translate to gaming at maximum res.

Running Windows at 1920 x 1200 is one thing, but running BF2 at 1920 x 1200 is another.

I use the Dell 2405 and run BF2 at 1920 x 1200 with 4xAA, 16xAF and SSTAA, and get 50+ FPS with 2x 7800GTX SLi @ 490 / 1300. There is not a single card solution on the market today which can do this.

If you're looking for a <£200 card to run the Dell 2405, you're going to either compromise on IQ or resolution, maybe both in some games.

IMHO if you don't already own the 2405, you'd be better off looking at a smaller monitor (e.g. 20") and using the extra cash to buy a better card.

but...but...i want a 2405! *jumps up and down*

I dont think ill be gaming at those resolutions, ive looked into it myself a bit and im pretty sure the 7800 will be absolutely fine for what i need...bearing in mind I know a certain someone who plays GTA san sndreas on a Ti4200 and a 2405 ;)

I had a laptop with that res screen, and it had an x300 128mb built in... and I could play Half Life 2 at 1920x1200 on low settings and get above 30 fps most of the time. A single GT will run that res and medium to high settings with no AA or AF fine. Then add another GT later to switch on the eye candy!
