Ok so I got my 2007 upgraded to a 2407 from dell :D

however, i'm running my 360 through it at 1920x1080 res (VGA) and basically it has what seems to be large areas of lines across it (not flickering) they are like blocks of pixels that haven't joined together correctly.

On my dvi and pc they are still there but less obvious. It kinda reminded me of the screen burn but they are not visible at lower resolutions.

Any ideas?

googled and found that its due to 1920x1080 is running at 1080p which this monitor doesnt support, however there is a workaround. Looks great in 720p anyhow.

Beside that, in windows there seems to be some slight little blocks in the centre of the screen, hard to explain. They would seem like lines of pixels like this,

----------------
----------------
----------------

showing up between them, its not very noticable but it is there slightly. And its only around the central area of the screen (just above center to be precise), I'll look around but wouldnt mind some input. Cheers.

hrmph seems to have gone now!
edit: ok maybe not, still there but not visible at certain angles.

seems to dissapear when i throw a game on (wow) and play it for a bit. (dissapears off of the desktop where its visible'ish). An oddity indeed.

Also what res is better, 1920x1080 or 1920x1200?

It is probably the 360 sending a 1080i (interlaced) picture. It'll only be noticable in certain scenes (probably fast moving) for a guess, the chipset on the monitor probably won't have any de-interlacing built in. Infact, the 360 doesn't support 1080p afaik, so it probably is 1080i. Run it at 720p.

WoW wise, you want to run in 1920x1200 to fill the whole screen.

Does the 2407 have desktop/video/etc modes available in the menu? Make sure its set to desktop so there's no video processing going on.

The 360 does do 1080p through vga, the autumn update added it.

You shouldn't be having the problems you're describing, it may need returning to Dell.
It's best to set the 360 to 1080p and the monitor to 1:1 pixel ratio, so you'll get small black borders at the top and bottom of the monitor, since it's native resolution is 1920x1200. If you're still having problems when using it with your pc, which should be set at 1920x1200, then you need to ring Dell.

Just wondering how much that cost and is that available only to people who bought direct through Dell?

edit:Re your other thread can you confirm that you don't get the wayey lines on the 360 on the 2407?

Yeah set the sharpness to 30, you carnt have 1:1 on the dell unfort through VGA, doesnt support it :( , so the image will always be stretched slightly

it's not too bad though, I can't even notice the stretching and what's 60 pixels each way on a 1200px screen anyway :p
