Howdy,

I know not many of you have this TFT yet, but for the ones that have... or the real TFT "bods" I thought Id ask anyway.

I got my 2407 REV A01 this morning, and its a beaut! I just have one gripe with it, and thats the modes?

Firstly I am using the monitor via a DVI connection, and when in the desktop I have the mode to "Desktop Mode". When going to gaming (i.e. HITMAN BM in this case) the "Desktop Mode" displays colours to vibrantly, and the game just dont look right. Well if I switch to "Gaming Mode" via the menu, its looks spot on. The annoying thing is doing this? I have to make about 5 buttons presses to get to this... is there a way for it to automatically do this? Or maybe even reassign the PIP button to swap modes? I go in and out of gaming quite a bit, so thats why the buttons presses is annoying :)

I know its probably not possible, but I thought it would be worth a shot?

Thanks

i dont think there'as any automatic switchovers. The presets are only different colour, brightness and contrast profiles. With a bit of playing, you could get the "desktop" mode looking nice for all uses, or make it look more like the "gaming" mode if you prefer it. Might be a case of getting a happy medium. I think you can use other software programs to set up colour profiles as well, things like Powerstrip are handy here. Maybe install that, and set two modes to turn "desktop" screen preset into both the normal desktop settings, and also those settings which make it look like the "gaming" preset. Might be easier :)

Cheers baddass, I was hoping for a reply from you!

Ill fiddle with the colours and get a satifactory look for both... might take some time but ill get there in the end :)

In the end Ive kept it in Desktop mode... Ive got use to it now and it looks fine in bnoth games and desktop.

One thing I did change from the default setting was I went from Color Setting > PC Mode to Color Setting > Mac Mode.... its a much more brighter natural colour.. PC mode is very dark and dismal.

Class TFT though, worth every penny!

Try using adobe gamma or similar to calibrate the screen, then set games to use desktop gamma. I found this helped loads in WoW and films etc. on my 2405.

I tried AG and couldnt get a satifactory look, besides I have got use to it now.

One thing I havent got use to though is the fact that my 2407 is "wonky" Sitting on its stand the TFT is slighty slanted on the right hand side... up close you cant really tell, but from a distance its quite visible. I put a spirit level on the top as well, and it showed it not being level!

Its deffo not slightly on its tilt, and I have pushed it all the way... and the monitor tilts the other way, so its not that.

So I have folded up some paper and put that under the right leg of the stand to level it out... attractive!

i'd be interested to hear your analysis of it's performance. Do you notice any of the early reported problems like colour banding or text blur? How is gaming?

I have none of them problems tbh baddass. Looks just as good as my ViewSonic VP201b 20.1" TFT and I felt that was fantastic.

I've only been playing Hitman Blood Money on it so far and also that has been pretty damn good. It is a very good monitor overall, and I am very happy with it... worth every penny.

Only problem is, as mentioned on this thread, I would like to see an automatic change over for modes, as gaming mode is better for games... but also like i said on this thread I have got use to it in desktop mode :)

No evidence of text blur at all, and no banding issues that I can see.

Basically, if you are considering buying this monitor I certaninly would advise it... unless you are unfortunate to get a broken one, then you will be very happy!
