160/160 veiwing angle WTF ?

theres rumers on a thread over at [H] that in the 2nd quarter dell will be using a updated TN panel in the Dell 2407, I wonder if thats true, would be great for gaming, also the numbers between the red lines, is that the refresh rates ?

Judging by the fudged colour-depth it does indeed look like TN...but also, 26" Dell widescreen? Looks like their monitor range is getting bloated if that happens.

I'm not so sure myself, the current PVA panel in the 2407 is something like 6 ms GTG and as quick as most of the TN widescreen panels around. The only TN widescreen panels that are quicker are just using masses of overdrive to get down to 2/3 ms and the threads here show the problems they're suffering due to that.

A TN 2407 for £350 might be good proposition, but if the price remains the same and we're being asked to accept an inferior panel with poor viewing angles, that's really bad for consumers.

Actually, looking at that table again, I think the 2nd column is a new 24" budget TN widescreen, not a change in 2407 panel type. Wonder how much it'll be.

Oh, that red row looks like colour gamut...I'm moving to the new 3007WFP-HC, and that 92% looks familiar.

the number in red is indeed the gamut range, so 72% NTSC for traditional CCFL backlighting, and 92% for improved backlighting.

that list doesnt mention Dell though, it's referring to panel part numbers. Samsung are indeed releasing a 24" TN Film panelo as reported here, not sure if it's going to be used i the 2407WFP though. However, Dell do have a 2407WFP-HC coming soon, so maybe a cheaper model using it then?

for reference the panels listed there are all from LG.Philips. im not sure where this has all come from or how reliable it is tbh
