My old monitor has been dragging my pc back for a while now and well ive been eyeing up the dell 2407WFP for a few weeks now and i just wanted to ask a few questions before i bull in and end up with buyers remorse.

The monitor will be solely for pc use only as i have my lcd for my ps3, 360 etc.

  • I mainly use my pc for gaming, secondly for browsing and i would watch videos on it too, would this monitor be suitable for all of these? I only generally play WoW but i might get back into FPS when i get my net connection sorted out.
  • Gfx card is an ATi Sapphire X1900XTX in case that causes any limitations.
  • I have an LG 32LX2R next to my pc, so am i a bit foolish getting a 24" instead of a 22" or 21"
  • Is there anything on the horizon that i should possibly wait for?
  • Anything else i havent thought of

There seems to be only a few people having problems with the dell with the majority quite satisfied so i thought it would be quite tasty for my first real monitor as currently i only have a shabby 17" ugly one that came with my premade pc from the purple place.

I just really like re-assurance lol. Thanks for the input chaps.

I see ye old noreply curse has followed me to this forum too. :p Aww come on i promise i wont bite. lol

Also i hope bumps are allowed, if not ill delete it and invade a very similar thread to mine that was posted today after the op gets his answers. :D

This is a fantastic monitor I've had mine about 2-3 months now. I was running most of my games at the native res with most of the eye candy on with a 1900xt depending on your CPU you should be able to as well. Try and get an A04 revision for the 1:1 pixel mapping.

Hope that helps

I've got a Perfect Rev3, and the quality of this screen is just awesome. Well recomended, the pixel mapping would have been a nice feature for this version to have, but it doesn't really affect me :)

I have an opteron 180 so hopefully it will be able to help me make use of it. Thanks for the input chaps, thats all i needed to hear to be sold :D Gonna order one tonight.

Thanks again for your input.

even more reason to buy one, they are £494 now rather than £505 as yesterday, pays for the shipping anyway :)

doggo

Got one chaps, thanks for the recommendations, it is totally great. Might need a new gfx card now though since the sapphire X1900XTX has started clocking 90-105 in temp and making a beeping noise with the screen flickering. lol

set mine up today. best bit of hardware i've ever bought.
if you're coming from crt (like i just have) it's shockingly good.
thinking you might need a better card (although those 1900's scale very very well at higher rez). i combined my new 2407 with an 8800GTX. going to play oblivion later to test it but during earlier tests i was down to 12fps! that was with 4xAA and every graphics slider on max with a heavily modded game.
just made some mods to nvidcp and adjusted game sliders, should be ok now.
getting staker tomorrow to see what this baby can do.
get the 2407 whilst it's still cheap.

yes i need some more games other than wow and CoD2 to test it too. Yea see the thing is mate i dont get any artifacts or FPS drops, well i do on CoD2 when i put the settings on too high but with the crashing its probably the heat its racking up.
