My image is kinda dark. What I mean is the blacks are really black, and the dark areas seem to blend so they are just totally .... erm... dark :P

In otherwords, imagine if you were playing a game and there was a dark room; when I look straight at the monitor it's quite a dark image and hard to make out the defined detail in the dark areas, but if I look at the screen from an angle from the right it lightens up and all the detail can be seen.

Strangely it doesnt make a difference if I look at the screen from the top left or bottom...

Anyone else notice this?

The contrast is greatest when looking directly at the screen, when you go off center, it loses colour definition slightly, and has less contrast.

This can make deeply black scenes in games appear 'brighter' when viewed at an angle.

Many titles include gamma correction, and to be honest a lot of titles do seem too hard, possibly a throwback from the old days of CRT where screens were often set to bright anyway.

Should be able to reduce the contrast slightly, on the panel which will make have a tendancy to pull the blackest scenes back into the greys, where the panel will likely have more graduations anyway.

Ok, I guess my screen is fine then. Just really annoying that it makes a brighter - better defined, imho - image when looked at from an angle :P

The effect you describe (dark details fading at acute viewing angles - ie just off from centre) is normal for that screen and is one of the weaknesses of PVA panels.
