Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading 22 x monitors at work from 20" to 24".

I do have 1 x Dell 2407 which I like and is more than suitable for the needs of the room. Especially as it has great viewing angels and is nice and bright. I understand this was replaced with the Dell 2410.

As my employer currently has a a contract/relationship with HP is there a suitable monitor that compares to either the Dell 2407 or Dell 2410 from HP.

Do you need broad gamut monitors for your work? Both the U2407 and U2410 offer a broad colour gamut, whereas the equivilent HP ZR24w offers only a standard colour gamut. The HP24w is very similar in other respects and would be a suitable replacement if the sRGB colour space is preferred.

if he can get hold of the old HP 24" IPS monitor (forgot its name) then go for that one as it's better than the zr24w

as said, the ZR24W is probably the main equivalent to the U2410 and older 2407WFP models.

was your old 2407WFP model the "normal" edition of the 2407WFP-HC? The latter was their first wide gamut offering, so you would maybe notice a change moving from that to a standard gamut model again like the HP ZR24W. However, if you had their original standard gamut screen then a move to the HP would not appear very different in terms of colour space

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure if it's the 2407WFP-HC model. I'll check that asap.

I'm not going to be able to consider older models as I'm certain the monitor will need to be available directly from HP.

just to add the purpose of these monitors is to practice diagnosing X-Rays. A dedicated grey scale monitor is out of the question due to other occasional uses and I need to keep the cost down. I did try a HP 24 LA2405WG but compared to the Dell 2407 it was fairly poor. This was after calibration.

the moderate black depth on the HP ZR24W could possibly present an issue there perhaps, but you should be able to correct using a colorimeter without too many problems i think
