Am i makeing a mistake with this tft?... iv asked around and no one seems to know when or if dell we be updateing it???

i have just made a new big desk thats deep and has a big corner curve.. so i think sitting far enough away from it isnt a problem....but...still...

no one has yet made a home review in the TFT thread...so....

The 3007 is still quite a new monitor in the UK so i don't seem them having a need to update this screen for sometime yet.

I am now using a DELL 3007WFP 30" panel. Its rated as having an 11ms grey-to-grey response time. All I can say is DVD's and Games look far superior. The colours just seem so much more vibrant and obviously the 30" size is damn big but really nice. :D

Now maybe I am fortunate to be using one of the best but I would certainly not go back to my CRTs as this thing is so great and even though its 30" it takes up far less space, is easier on the eyes and watching DVD's and playing games has never been so good.....

remember seeing this about the Dell 30" monitor

a stroke of good fortune is enableing me to get mine.... i thin kthey call it a student loan :P

easyer on the eyes says him?.... good good says I!

I'd suggest that 30" TFT's are likely to get updated less often than more popular smaller models. So, with it being a new model, I wouldn't expect it to be replaced that soon.

Are you sure it's a good idea to blow your student loan on an LCD monitor which will be out-of-date within a year or so?

You could pick up two DELL 2007WFP's for a shade over half the price, a DELL 2407WFP for half the price, or a couple of 19" TFTs for well under a third of the price. That leaves you some money left over to buy a nice LCD TV if you must get that "big screen" experience :)

hes right

If you had the money to buy it in the first place, then i would say get it but the fact you are using your student loan is not a good idea.

Get the 24", it doesnt need quad sli to drive decent fps, doesnt have problems with the huge res that the 30" does (the 30" doesnt have an onboard cpu it lets the vga card do the work, which doesnt work too well) and it has way more functions like hd in and svid in. :)

good man ;)

how is it?

well, there is more to the story, i hade enough money to buy a 30" and 1500 left for a good build, but i kinda blew it on my 3 month trip to Australia (im still here now) so iv desided to spend my loan on this, because my last loan only went to waste on cheap ale and fine chicks (actually, swith the cheap and fine :D )

so... i really like the apple 30" that i have used in the past, and i want something substantial to watch my DVD's on in my refurbished office.. it was really a toss up between 2 24" and a 30" but the dvd and game thing kinda made me go for 30".. plus all my other crapy crt's have lasted me around 4 years or more each, so im hopeing this will to.

The ultimate student setup (for real subjects, like Engineering and Sciences) is dual-screen...although you might want to make the second screen a 32" HDTV. You could save money by getting a 32" WXGA and a 24" WUXGA. Worth it for the connectivity, good luck hooking anything apart from a single computer to the 3007.

That said, the 3007 is great.

These are your options, as I can see them:

1. Drop £1500 on a DELL 3007WFP. You get a single input and it's impossible to build a system which can output games at the monitor's optimum resolution.

2. Spend £700 on the more conservative DELL 2407WFP. You still have a stupidly large screen, but you have a plethora of inputs and a resolution which is just about game-friendly. Blow the remaining £700 on a 32" Samsung LCD TV for watching television and DVDs on.

tempting, verrry tempting!

no one really seems to care for the 3007 here :-/... i thought it had better response then what im hearing :(

its a great monitor, just expensive,
i can play cs:s at 2560*1600 full everything but no aa with my 7800gtx but other games like oblivion, fear need MORE POWER.

i miss the inputs , no more playstation2 :(

I don't mean to gloat but i had two of these at one stage.

Each of which devloped a problem.

One USB port didnt work on one of the screens which also had a serious backlight bleed.

The other one i sold off and the guy had to rma it becuase it had a huge green band across the screen.

I still have the one with the bb and faulty usb.

That aside these screens are so immense and impressive to watch movies and play games on as well.

When i first bought mine i thought a lot of people would also buy these but i think i am in a minority in these forums at the moment.
as it looks like this screen didn't take off with common gamers like everyone on the forums.

One thing i would add though, you would not be dissapointed with the money that you fork out on one of these baby's.

Here are some piccy's if you want to have a geez:

Note the can of Physio for comparison. :D

omg, that mother is HOT!.. hah, you have the same speakers as me to :)

guess the only thing that is ****** about going for this 3007, is if i get an X360 i wont be able to use this pretty screen with it :( unless 360 can use DVI ??? or plug directly into a PC ?
