Dell 4600 memory upgrade problems
After looking on the Dell support site I have bought 2Gb of 3200 DDR RAM (2x1Gb) to upgrade my old machine but it doesn't work.
The existing memory was 2700 DDR, but the Dell site said either would work - have I bought the wrong type?
I have matched the banks and tried all kinds of combinations but no joy, I'd just like to know if the RAM is faulty or if it just the wrong type.

edit to say my machine is the 533 FSB version.
