Hi
Hope someone can throw some light on my problem.
Yesterday, I upgraded my Dell 640m from 1mb to 2mb with the correct modules. I went to switch the machine back on and there was nothing except for the three indicator lights (num lock, caps lock, scroll lock) and the power light. They went off ofter 5 secs.
With all of the above there was no change. All the machine now does is light-up the lights, not a sign of a fan, hard disk or screen flicker - nothing.
In an extensive Google search I found one or two similar incidents which were all resolved by making sure the memory is seated correctly which I've done (this is about the 30th laptop I've changed memory for - so I know what they mean).
There is nothing on the machine to "reset" it to factory defaults and leaving out all the batteries for 12 hours does not seem to have done the trick.
So any ideas folks?
Any help much appreciated

- Checked the seating of the memory
- Replaced the new with old memory
- Tried with just 1 chip in socket A and Socket B of both the old and new memory.
- Took out hard disk
- Took out CMOS battery, main battery and disconnected from main and left for 12 hours
