Dell 7000 using Intel GFX rather than nVidia

Guys, I'm trying to play some 2160p footage in VLC but it's a juttery mess.

It seems VLC is using the intel on-board over the high performance GFX variant, if I go into nVidia control panel and the 3D settings I can't alter VLC from using integrated...Any ideas?

See if the following works:

Nvidia control panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Preferred graphics processor -> High-performance NVIDIA Processor.
