So after months of problems with Dell, I finally got a refund on tuesday (A full refund mind you, for a 2.5 year old xps laptop.. Huge result, very happy yada yada).

I got home today.. And found a large dell box waiting.. I opened it up, very puzzled like.. Thought wow, maybe they sent compensation too! :D

No.. Its a replacement laptop.. lol

They'll probably send you a invoice and payment request for that laptop.

Yeah thats what im worried about :)

Still its funny how disorganised they are.. Guess I will ask them about it when i get called monday to check i got the refund :(
 
Well I did tell them about it. Unfortunately I am an honest person.

Asked them if it was a good will gesture or something, was told:

I afraid that there has been a mistake.

You will either need to pay for the order or I can arrange for it to be collected.

I will call you later today

I did get an invoice from them stating the goods did not need to paid for :)

Its all very funny really. Hugely frustrating few months but the ending has made me chuckle.

Also have to say they are *MUCH* quicker to reply now they want their stuff back ^^
 
I was going to request some compensation (like my nearly £100 of phone calls refunded) anyway, so i guess ill write to their head office and make clear that I wont be available for the collection of their goods until they have resolved this matter to my satisfaction :)

Not too worried about how long it takes now since I got the refund, lol
 
Its a bit late now as ive told them.. I couldnt live with that on my conscience even with a company as naff as dell..

In answer to above yes i am happy with full refund for a 2.5yr old laptop, I know its a result. But that said I have been quite a while without a working gaming laptop (and my macbook doesnt cope as well as the dell did)..

Anyway, the latest is:

I have been investigating the replacement system that was sent out to you.

It was a replacement for order xxxxxxxxx.

Now that you have been refunded are you happy for me to close off the case for you?

So no idea what that means.. I will write to them and ask :)
 
Had similiar experience with Dell. Bought a desktop without monitor which came dead. Made complaint and they couldn't deliver a replacement before I went on holiday. Came back on holiday and found 2 new replacement signed by neighbour and both has got free upgrade for my trouble. Sold both bluetooth keyboard and mouse and sold one of the system. Made nearly £200 profit even after deducting my original costs.

That is brilliant :D
 
The moral of the story here is: when you buy a Dell laptop buy the business warranty. It's better. I should know, it's what I do!

OR... The moral of the story could be buy the normal warranty, have the nice laptop for 2.5 years, get all your money back and a free laptop? :D PS dont go telling Dell woody :D
 
To me that reply is 'its a replacement...but I see on file that you've also been given a refund - how about we shut up and nobody gets in trouble?'

Yeah thats how i was reading it. I will just reply and tell them i am happy with the resolution :)
