Dell BIOS password reset

Hi,

I have been asked to have a look at a dell PC. Its about 2 years old, she has owned it from new but now (she says) for no reason at power up to the BIOS it is asking for a password.

I have not picked it up so cant give spec details yet, but any ideas if a cmos reset will reset it, or any other ideas to try?

Cmos reset should do the trick fella,you won't know until you try

Thanks, I thought it would but it will be a few days before she can drop it off.

I know Dell can be sneaky and try to get people to send it back for basic maintenacne type tasks, anyone got anymore ideas incase a reset dont work?

If the BIOS reset doesnt work you are pretty screwed TBH. Short of buying a new BIOS chip Im not sure theres a lot else you could realisticly do.
