I've got a Dell desktop PC which is still under Collect and Return warranty.

One of the discs in the RAID0 array has failed this morning. I can't be bothered sending the PC away for days - does anyone know if Dell will supply me a replacement disc to fit myself?

I've logged a call with them but I'm waiting for a reply. If they won't ship a replacement I'll just buy a disc to save hassle.

I wouldnt of thought so , they are usually pretty strict when it comes to DIY fitting of Internal Components due to warrenty Reasons

But hey you might be lucky

I thought about trying to RMA the disc direct to Western Digital but it shows no warranty on the checker.

Dell are always happy to send internal parts for machines work for our technicans to fit to save them an engineer call, if they refuse this I'll be making sure they send someone out for every job in future :)

Nope, they make you send the whole Pc back and they will probably wipe it :/

That isn't a concern as the data will be lost due to running RAID 0. If your clear about the problem to dell, I'm sure they should just send you a replacement disk.....as it'll be quicker in the long run.

I had a problem with a disk with my old Dell,,,I rang them up and they give me the choice of sending the whole system back or taking the disk out and sending them that.Sent the disk and got the replacement in 4 days,

Friend of mines Dell laptop hard drive failed and they just delivered him a replacement drive for him to fit - well, me to fit for him. They sent a courier out to collect the old one and swap it for a new no questions asked

no mention of competitors =\

DELL sent me a new HDD and the guy took the old one away, when I had one fail on me some time last year.
