Dell CPI-a Latitude Password

Just bought an old laptop from the bay for my son and the bios has a password on it. I cant change the boot order as the bios is locked untill the password is input. I have searched and I can only see that clearing this password requires soldering or simila.

Any help pls?

There must be a BIOS battery somewhere, take that out then put it back in after 30 seconds or so, that should clear it.

hmm not for laptops, they have a lot more security than that. Unless the seller can give you the password I would get your money back.

the cmos battery bios deffinatly doesnt work and i have flashed the bios, any other ideas?

Getting past laptop password is not easy. You've also got the hard drive password.
Usually if you get it incorrect three times it locks the machine and hard drive out and will need to be sent back to the factory.

Sorry if I'm being dense but with the CPi can you not just press F12 on the Dell screen to select a boot device? or did they not bring that in untill the C-Series?

Contact the seller and request the password. If he can't dispute the auction and ask for a refund (if you really need to change boot) I guess need to do it for a fresh install?

There is software available such as "BIOS Cracker 4.6 - BIOS password remover (cmospwd)". Google for it.
