Has anyone had any experience with Dell and credit notes?

My laptop is going back after a few problems and they have offered me either a refund or a credit note, I was thinking for the money i paid for my laptop (£802) I could get a better machine with the offers that are on at the moment, for instance the machine below with the added extras and with the discount and offers is only £37 more.

To be fair that is quite a good deal as it is, my other option would be to hold onto the £802 credit not and wait for a system around £802 to pop up on the outlet.

What do you guys think?

Are the lower clocked i7 mobile processors still superior to a higher clocked i5? Been wondering for a while now if that's the case. Surely a 2ghz processor compared to an 2.5 is going to slow things down quite a bit unless i7 is that much quicker clock for clock?

I have been offered another system, of the spec below. It doesnt have the extra 500gb hard drive or the memory upgrade but i have a 4gb stick here to go in it anyway.

This one includes the 1080p 3d screen and 3d glasses which to be honest i will likely sell. I would remove them from the options but its part of a "3d" bunndle discount they are doing)

Cheers for the input, i wish they had better gfx cards available on the xps 17's else id consider using it as a desktop replacement. I guess they would be entering into alienware territory then.

Pretty much, they don't want to cannibalise sales from the overpriced Alienware division. Cheap gaming laptop with decent spec = MSI or Asus most of the time.

Thought as much, well im getting a callback today from dell to see what they can offer me after my horrendous experience with my previous l702x which has now gone back.

There are several decent deals at the outlet at the moment.

Spec wise it may not be as the one you wanted however you can pick something up with similar specs (GT525 though) for around £200 off.
