I have a Dell D600 which my Cat chewed through the psu wire! - thankfully for him, it was the wire between the laptop & the PSU rather than the PSU to the mains!!!
Trouble is, I have replaced it with a multi adaptor PSU from a PC shop which contains various adaptors to fit different makes, the Dell adaptor I use works & powers the laptop just fine.
The trouble is, the laptop reports that the PSU is unknown and it won't charge the battery.
I guess this is because I'm not using the OEM Dell PSU?
Any ideas how (bar getting a Dell psu!) I can fix this or am I now stuck with a mains only laptop?
