Hi

I’ve been offered a Dell D600/D620
I’m looking to upgrade the hard drive and ram as it currently comes with 60gb and 1gb respectively.

Can the chipset handle 2gb Ram and a 250gb hard drive (as big as I can find as an IDE)
And if so what ram should i be looking at

Cheers
Marv

Those are two very different laptops, the D600 is an early centrino machine, it can take up to 2GB of PC2700 DDR1, with 1gb per slot, it uses IDE hard drives.
The D620 is a dual core laptop, it can take up to 4GB of PC5300 DDR2 and it uses SATA laptop drives so that's a bit cheaper. If it's the D620, upgrading the RAM will be very cheap with how DDR2 sodimm prices are these days, but if it's the D600 then upgrading it to 2GB will cost around 50-60 because 1GB DDR1 sodimms arent cheap.
