Hi guys,

My D620 is great but one intermittant problem I have with it is about 30% of the time I turn it on, it resumes for hibernation, I get the Windows unlock screen, and 2 seconds later it will re-hibernate itself and then power off. If I then turn it right back on, it resumes again, and works perfectly.

Any ideas?

First thought was power settings

Is it set to hybernate at xx% of battery power, or after xx mins of no activity?

Seems very odd that it would do this seconds after boot up.

Also does it do this when on battery power/mains or both?

If your using a quick button, reinstall the drivers.

My mate had a problem whereby the "quick access" button was sending the command twice, but by the time the second one was processed, it was already hibernating. So what does it do? It turns on and resumes the second command...

Not using a quick button, happens regardless of charge. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it beyond the fact it will NEVER do it twice in a row, ie, it wont do it, then do it again right away.

Very odd indeed.... I'll have a google around tomorrow when I'm more awake :)

edit: Just had a quick Google.... can you please tell me:

1) If you have a Windows Server OS on your network at all.
2) Does this still happen if you disable all network connections (Including the "Wireless Zero Config" in Run --> Services.msc)

Thanks

edit2:
Oh, and what version of Windows you're running on the laptop

Almost certainly, as I use it at Uni on the wireless. But it hasn't had time to connect to the network and I'm sure it once happened at home.

Don't know, will check but this is hard to check as it's intermittant and I require the use of wireless.

Accourding to a few forums, the D620 has this problem when there are Windows Servers on the network because of something to do with DHCP. You could try setting static IPs?

Could be a stuck lid switch. If you get into Windows look at the power options, choose do nothing when the lid is closed. If that stops the problem, you could have a go at the lid switch with some contact cleaner or similar

I reckon he probably got a new laptop within the past 12 years.
