Got the above lappy but I want to install some extra ram, can I just install any DDR2 ram or does it have to be dell specific?

Currently has 1x 512mb stick of PC4200 installed.

The Dell Latitude D620 accepts RAM with a speed of 533MHz. Saying this, any DDR2 RAM *should* work, because the system will downclock the speed to match the system's.

Saying this, I would go for PC4200, like you have currently. The system will accept up to 4GB of DDR2 533MHz (PC4200).

Hope that helps. :)

The D620 should accept PC5300 667mhz modules really, that's what the intel 945 chipset is capable of, so I'd replace it with any regular DDR2 sodimms.
You might need a BIOS update to get it to run at the right speed but it's unlikely.

That's true. It should be able to handle 667MHz RAM.
If you can, ask a friend / family member with a stick of DDR2 667MHz RAM if you can try it in your notebook.

I've got a Dell D420 and I just stuck a generic (PNY) 2gb stick in it and it works fine! Some DDR2 PC5300 / 667MHz
