Hi all

Having some decisions to make at the moment,

I am going to buy a dell monitor! Minimum size is 24" max size WAS 30" but I have decided that it will be too much money

So I am left with the 2408 24" or the 2707 27" version

I have tried a 2407 version in my room todayand it looked great however as my setup involves me sitting on my bed looking at the screen rather than at a desk I'm wondering whether the 24 is too small

So badically which monitor is technically better? This years 24" 2408 or the 27 " 2707

I will be using the monitor for playing games, watching movies and some still photo editing

I haven't used the 2408wfp but I've had two 2407wfps (ao3 & ao4-non-hc) in the last year. I now have a 2707wfp.

Would recommend the 2707wfp with ease. It looks superb, the build quality is fantastic and the huge screen (even though it shares its resolution with a 24") looks great.

I haven't used it for games yet but I haven't noticed any problems at all.
 
well I have been using a samsung 32" HDTV as a monitor and bigger isn't always better..I'd have the 2407wfp anytime over a 32" tv

What I'm unsure about is will the 2707wfp look darker and less sharp than a 2407wfp??

Also does the 2707 have pip? I can't see it in any of the specs but the 2407 does

A tv as a monitor isn't always going to be ideal. The same way a Dell 2407wfp doesn't make a great tv.

Personally I haven't noticed a drop in quality at all, in the 27". Although to what extent depends on your usage and cynicalness.

2707wfp does have PiP.
 
cool well i have read the reviews on OCUK for the 27" will read the 2408 reviews although by what i have read i may go for the 27" unless there are some problems with it that i dont know about

glad it has PIP though

i dont really want it to be darker than the 24"
 
27" will be great, just get a 8800 gt to go with it.

or go for 9600gt which is only 10% slower but has hdmi output for the big tv when you want it.

Get the 27" I have the dell 2407HC Rev A00 which only came out end of last yr and it is fantastic, but I often sit on my bed about 3 metres away and use it, but have to have the magnifier open to read text. It's great for movies and games, but not for reading.
Sure the 27 won't make an amazing amount of difference for that distance, but it would help.
