Im not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue but it's something I have never come accross before.
We have a Dell E6400, with an ethernet cable connected, when the laptop is running off the battery everything is fine. However as soon as the power cable is connected the LAN loses connection and drops to limited connectivity and reverts to the default MS IP address.
As soon as the power cable is removed, the LAN obtains an IP address and connects again. This is also the case when the laptop is on the docking station and when WIFI is enabled as well as disabled.
I cannot figure it out, I would have thought if at all it would be the other way arround that the LAN would stop when the power was disconnected.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
EDIT: I should mention it is running windows XP
