Hi all,

Sorry for being new here and asking what must be the same old questions but I did run a search and found nothing specific.

I have a dell dimension 5000 that currently has 2x512mb ddr2 pc3200 I am obviously wishing to increase this and looking to buy memory that will simply slot in and go with minimal fuss. With that in mind I am thinking I need to buy another pair of 512's to occupy slots 2 and 4.

So can anyone recommend me some memory that will run with the current setup?

I have seen lots of ddr2 memory on this site but its all faster speeds. Will I be able to fit this anyway and will it simply run at the lower speed of the memory already installed?

Many thanks for any help and advice. :D

it's DDR2-3200? Strange.

Anyway since you won't be doing any overclocking as it's a Dell, just buy the cheapest DDR-2 that you can find.

And to answer your question, yes you can fit in a faster speed like PC4000 or something...it should automatically downclock.

Many thanks for the swift reply.

I am hopefully upgrading much more than the memory but will leave that for another thread.
