My son's laptop occasionally runs really slow - it's got 16Gb of ram and running task manager frequently 60% / 10 Gigs are in use. I can't see one particular memory hog, but lots of 100-200Mb processes (edge, malware bytes, search).

He plays Minecraft, Jurassic world evolution 3 and that's kinda it. Always on mains.

It would be easy to slap in more ram, but the PRICE!!! Omg.

Any tips for streamlining

Make a backup first. I use shut up 10++ this tool turns off windows process hogs. I would also go into windows update advanced and turn off Delivery Optimization. This is amazing massive RAM hog. I would also do a anti virus sweep aswell.

Use a debloated windows, mine is 8 core ryzen, 16GB, Onboard graphics, and it's fast. about 120 processes, 2.5GB memory usage, and CPU usage about 5%

Even less than 120 processes hardly any CPU usage
