Hi, I'm pretty annoyed that for a company such as Dell, that this laptop should start getting an issue with its keyboard only after a year and half use.
I have had other laptops before for years, and never had one issue like this with them.
Nothing has spilt on this laptop, but the numbers just above the qwertyuiop keys very rarely work, the numbers to the right on the number pad work fine.
The number buttons only sometimes work and some don't seem to register at all now, I work from home for the NHS and this has started becoming a real nuisance because them keys all contain things like brackets, explanation mark etc..
For the time being, I have been using a plug in keyboard, which is fine, but considering the age of the laptop I want it functioning correctly.
It is out of warranty now, but I don't think this sort of issue is something that should be expected to happen after a year and half.
Is it likely that Dell would refuse to fix it, and how much would I be looking at to have the keyboard replaced if not?
I have tried using compressed air, which hasn't done anything.
A plugged in keyboard works fine, which does indicate that it's a fault of the laptop keyboard.
My other annoyance with this, especially given the laptops age, if I ever wanted to sell it, it's now got a pretty annoying problem which would seriously devalue it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
James
