2160p content is just choppy, laggy and a poor experience. Either I'm doing something fundamentally wrong or a £1k Laptop isn't up to it! Any ideas?

One concern is the dual GFX...I would assume firing up such content the nVidia would be utilised but could it be the on board HP jobby being used too?

Thanks

The 2160p content. Is it via Edge, Chrome, VLC etc?

Have you ensured via the Nvidia control panel that the 1050/1050Ti is selected as default?

Only have the 1050 + 1080p panel on mine.

VLC. Yes tried changing the default, it has not changed anything. I'm still adamant it's not using the correct gfx but not sure how I check whilst the video is running?

Two things to perhaps check

1) You've got GPU decoding enabled in the settings
2) You haven't left any post-processing filters on such as sharpening

The Kaby Lake processor should handle 4K video by itself right up to 10-bit HEVC streams.
