Dell Inspiron 1501 - Charger Error on Boot

Hi guys,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 here. It gives me an error on boot saying unofficial charger.
The laptop works fine but battery doesn't charge.

The charger is a Targus 70w jobby.

According to the Dell website the official Dell model is 65w.

Why does the Dell complain about this charger and is there any way to disable this warning and have the Targus charge the battery?

I know dell uses the center pin to identify the charger for this reason. I dont think its complaining about the wattage as you point out it's powerful enough. It will complain about the wattage with a genuine dell adaptor thats underpowered too.

I had the same problem when the center pin on mine broke, it ran but didnt charge. I never found a way to disable it - I'd just replace it with a genuine charger.
