I have a laptop, Dell Inspiron 2500.

The issue i'm experiencing is a problem booting up.

What happens is when booting, i'm greeted by the Dell 'welcome' screen. It then provides the option to "enter setup" by pressing F2.

This is it........

So i go ahead with the F2, then the screen changes, and appears to be loading the BIOS, but then i'm greeted by the same screen again, which then freezes.

Now i'm not a 'Laptop Master' but in my PC days, perferably, i would replace the spacer, default the BIOS to factory settings, and take out and then put the battery back in. After inspection of the laptop i cannot find anything which can be used in this effect.

I've also tried to flash the BIOS, but as the laptop does not continue past the initial welcome screen, i'm baffled as what i can do to salvage this old piece of................

Any imput here, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Ta!

Iirc the 2500 is a cut down version of the 8000.

Try removing everything, optical drives, hdd, everything, then put them back in one by one, powering up after each part as been re-installed, even reseat and leave one memory module out if you have 2.

You can reset the bios once inside the bios screen by holding down the alt key and pressing F, but as you can't get into the bios that won't help much.

Also after removing everything, including battery and power, hold down the power button for a good 20 secs, to "reset" the laptop.
