Dell inspiron 510m 6100A driver

Hi Guys

Wonder if you can help please.

I have a mate with a Dell inspiron 510m laptop, but all of a sudden it has stopped recognising the DVD drive.

Looking at its properties under Device Manager, the driver doesn't appear to be present. The driver is for the 6100A DVD unit (manufactured by NEC).

I have searched the internet for these drivers but cannot find them anywhere.

Has anyone had a similar problem or able to source these drivers please? Alternatively, are there any other drivers that would possibly work for this particular device?

Have you tried dell's support website? All the drivers for the laptop will be there. Along with troubleshooting tips.

Would this work? How do you delete an IDE channel?!?

Under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller there are three items. First is an Intel 82801 DBM Ultra ATA Storage controller - 24CA. Then the following two are IDE primary and IDE secondary.

Again, all advice is welcome.
