Can you check my diagnosis please. Battery is not in use (died 6months ago).
Problem is at power-up. Takes more and more goes to get it running. Typical sequence is:-
Try 1. Says memory fault
2. POST starts then freezes
3. I select diagnostics at post then freezes
4. gets through POST then freezes before starting windows
5. pull power lead, press start button; repeat the above
6. then, once windows starts it runs ok

Have swopped memory modules. No difference. My diagnosis is a bad connection/solder joint which remedies itself after the machine has warmed up.
(flexing the laptop does not cause failure).
Solution? Either new motherboard or new laptop is probably the easiest option.
Cheers.

I think you're having the same issue as I am, except when it finally run windows, it can suddenly BSoD on me and the whole series of event repeats itself. On top of that, my screen shows 'pixelation' when there is error at POST and Diagnosis.

That's all from cold boot.

I've given up on it. Mine's a Dell 9400 (C2D, 7900GS, 2GB RAM) if it's any relation. I am guessing a mobo fault and currently hunting for a replacement, if I can fix this within my ability, I would give it a try... any suggestion?
