Dell keyboard problems

Ok,

Up untill a few days ago, all the buttons on my Dell Deluxe Keyboard worked. Now, they don't. The ones in particular are the 'mute' and the volume wheel thingie.

I've tried to reinstall my drivers for my sound card, the AC97 ones and i've also tried looking for the dell drivers for the keyboard.

I've tried plugging it into a different USB port, but no such luck.

Another thing i've noticed is that i no longer get the grand windows startup and shutdown sounds along with any of the error beeps etc. I think the two may be linked.

anyone got any ideas?

Is your HID service still running??
( check in services.msc, if HID input service has started, if not you need to get that working)

yes, this is running, like i said, all the other buttons work but the mute and volume wheel don't along with the other 'windows' sounds.

quite a strange one.
