I have a wee Dell C400 laptop here, I use it for work stuff mostly, running XP Home and all it has installed on it is a few common apps like Office etc, plus I have CS3 sat on there too.
An old laptop, yeah, but its done the job so far.
Lately though, its began to "freeze" for want of a better word, either when its booting up or shortly after XP has started up.
When it freezes during boot up, the little loading bar on the XP screen just stops and the only way to switch off is a hard reset.
It will do this perhaps 3 out of 5 times when attempting to boot up.
If it actually does boot up, everything seems to work fine for a random amount of time. Sometimes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours.
Then it will just freeze again as you are in the middle of something. Cursor stops moving and everything locks up. Again, only way to switch off is a hard reset.
I'm thinking heat issues perhaps?.
I've reformatted the 20Gb hard drive and reinstalled a fresh copy of XP on it which seemed to cure things for a few weeks, but it started doing the same again today.
Any suggestions appreciated.
