Dell Latitude E6420 Ethernet disabling when docked.

Hey guys.

Just trying my arm here, but a users docking station Ethernet has decided to stop working - defiantly broken, and i thought while we wait to get him a new one we could use the Ethernet port on the laptop. Is there a way to enable to port when docked and laptop lid shut?

I tried the same thing on my E6230 and my E5430 but was unsuccessful.

My e6420 was also a bit temperamental when using the dock & the onboard, sometimes works, sometimes not.
I used a usb Ethernet adapter to overcome.

never thought of this.

Thanks! Wonder if its possible to make your own cable.
