howdy.

how do i get into these laptops to upgrade the RAM? I have one with 256mb already, but i got my brother one and it only has 128mb. I'm going to send him some more RAM, but can't work out how to get into mine to check what type it has in it.

Ive scanned it with the crucial scanner and it said 256mb, PC133, SDRAM. which is fine, but im sure the FSB is only 100, so PC100 will do me fine. Where ive got confused, is some laptops seem to be fussy about the amount of chips on the module and i keep seeing low density and high density about the place. Whats the differences, and what will it mean for me choosing ram for an LS400?

there should be a small hole below the microphone on the keyboard strip, press in the hole with a paper clip and slide it to the left, then take the 4 screws from the key board, slide it up a bit and flip it towards you becarefull of the ribbon cable and connector, you should see memory socket, this was from the service manual on dells website
