Was think about buying a dell M101z netbook...has anyone have one or can recommend specs.

Was thinking about the AMD dual core one with 2gb ram and 250Gb 5400rpm hard drive (its £429). The next one is has a 720rpm HD and 4gb RAM and is £499. Its running windows 7.
Is it worth paying the extra £70 for the hard drive and RAM. Will this run windows 7 ok? It will be used fro browsing photos and online stuff mostly. Expensive for a netbook really.

The other option I was looking at was the ASUS 1215N which is £429 but has intel ION 1.8Ghz CPU and 2Gb RAM.

Decisions, decisions....

I actually ordered a M101z to replace the older 11z but I ended up cancelling my order when I spotted the Acer 8371.

There has been nothing but praise for the Acer 8371 and 3810TGZ from OcUK recently. The 8371 can be picked up for around £340 while the 3810TGZ for around £370 I believe and both are generally a much better spec for the money compared to the M101z.

Arguably better CPU (personally I just don't think AMD have quite got to the same level as Intel in the CULV market. That AMD Neo cpu in the M101z is pretty new, yet is still ever so slightly behind the CULV in terms of performance and it still consumes more juice than the Intel CULV chips that have been out for well over a year now) and much better graphics with dedicated video memory.

Granted it's a bigger screen (11.1" vs 13.3") and a few grams heavier (1.56kg vs 1.65kg) but still worth considering :)

Battery life is also excellent

if its 24 hours a day and 7 days a week then yes it is, I believe that's where most people have been getting it from. there should be a 2.5% discount code floating around for that place too
