Hey guys,

I'm.attempting to install Ubuntu 12.04 on.my Dell as I want to turn it into a media center
However when I use the universal USB application on the ISO it doesn't.boot. the screen stays at the command prompt and says "boot:".

Oddly enough I have booted from USB on this before. Could it be because I am.using the 64 bit ISO (file name also mentions amd) rather than the 32 bit one?

Any ideas? Thanks.

try Universal USB Installer from PenDriveLinux, I've used it a lot and its never failed at all. Simple to use, easy to follow and pretty fast.

As Van Hellseek above said I'm already using it.

I think I will simply reformat it again before I use the application. I always thought the program reformatted but maybe it does not. I have downloaded the 32 bit and will see if that boots when I get home.

It is possible that the issûe is the USB stick BUT I booted a Linux disk manager on it 2 weeks ago to reformat a hard drive and that worked perfectly.
