Hi Fellas

Has anyone got any experience with the Dell MD3000i SANs?

I'm wondering if it's possible to configure 2 of these boxes and have them replicate, to offer redundancy? I'm very much a novice when it comes to storage! I was just curious as to whether these could be configured in any kind of cluster setup, without using 3rd party software?

And just to clarify my understanding of iSCSI, these are networked devices, right? With assigned IPs, and allow remote hosts to access the disks at block level via SCSI over TCPIP? Is that correct?

Thanks

Martin

I think all the PowerVault disk boxes let you daisy chain them and configure RAID as you please so it should be possible to get that kind of setup. That's pretty much my understanding of iSCSI too, but I've only used PowerVaults via SAS.

Hi

Thanks for your reply! I can't find any info online about about daisy chaining??

Anyone got any other ideas?

One MD3000i, can be linked to a further two MD1000's, to offer upto 45Tb of stoarage dependant on the flavour of MD's you choose.

I dont believe that you can mirror them as a whole unit.
I havent noticed the option in our MD3000 at work, the only options that i can see, are snapshotting, and redunant pathing of the SAS connections. No other options.
