Ok i just wanted to get all the mini 9 owners in one place.

My mum got one yesterday, removed the default ubuntu and installed intrepid and put netbook remix packages on top of that.

I didnt like how it doesnt use the default ubuntu repositories so i had to format it :-(

One funny thing is my sisters boyfriend came over with his mini 9 too and we was sitting on sofa with same laptop and I also had a 9" eee pc in the same room!

Also a note for owners, if you didnt know, theres a card slot under the battery for a 3G sim card!
the mobile phone operators appear to use same model.

Heres a nice site:

Although theres a slot, there's nothing to read it, it's just a slot for other models of the dell mini afaik

You have to solder a connector onto the mb to use the spare slot if you have a normal mini.

I've just put vista on mine and it runs great.

Is it worth getting one for general playings about and travelling?

I'm |--| this close to ordering one right now!

Someone sell it to me!!!

Does this mean that you can buy a model with it connected?

I've looked on their site and cannot see the relevant option.

If you get the Dell Mini from Vodafone then it comes with either 1/3 Gb for £25/£30 per month.

So you pay for the data transfer amount and get the Dell Mini free. Ish......

So if thats a good deal for you then you make your choice. It is unfortunatly the 7Gb SSD version though.

Yes theres a program available, Dell wireless, from the mydell mini site if you search for it. It lets me use my 3 mobile sim in the internal sim socket instead of via the 3 dongle :D

Do a search on the following file DELL_WIRELESS-5530-HSPA-MINI_A02_R197332

Thats what I used but cant find a direct link. but plenty of hits come up for that if you look :D

Hope that helps.

Thanks mate. Found it and it works brilliantly with my T-Mobile WnW SIM card from a dongle I have!

Few more questions....I've just re-installed XP drivers etc, Firefox and Chrome on it and the 8Gb drive only has 1.4Gb left. I guess a larger 16 or 32Gb SSD drive is one option to increase the HDD capacity, but is there a way to use a SD card for extra space? If I got an 8Gb flash drive could I intall apps to that drive and run them from there?

Oh, what SDHC card would you recommend? Any Class 6? Would a RAM upgrade hold things along too or is it not worth it?

Just bought a vodafone dell mini 9 off an auction site (brand new). 8GB SSD so gonna get working on a custom nlite build for it with drivers integrated.

Anyone know much about loading teh OS off a USB stick (I have an external DVD drive but USB would be better for ease of installation(seeing as 1st build may be wrong :) )).
