Hi,

I just bought a one of these nice Dell Multifunction Laser Printer 1815DN and was wondering how tricky it is to set-up as a network printer?

It's for a SOHO set-up so everything will be running via a BT Home Hub (+maybe an extra switch?).

I will have to set-this up in a day or two so I thought maybe anyone could give me some basic tips if needed?

I have set up a couple of these printers before but I used just a basic USB connection to a local computer but as its a network printer I thought I would try and sus out how to set it up properly?

Is it is easy as just linking into the network with an ethernet cable? then maybe having a look through the network neighbourhood for the printer?

I think the whole network is DHCP so was wondering if the printer works with that or do u have to manually configure their I.P address?

Had some problems setting this up as a network printer, mainly due to the confusing installation options on the DELL CD, once I worked out what type of installation I was meant to run the Printer was picked up straight away and installed fine :)

However for some reason the DELL CD doesn't install any extra software when it does a network install so features like OCR and scanner options were missing?

In the end I just connected it to the main machine via USB and everything worked as expected lol :D
