Dell optiplex 210l

Anyone know what cpu's will go in this to replace the ageing p4 ht thats in there? i was thinking of a pentium D, but dell does not list it as being compatible, but dell being dell it probably would work but they dont want you to know that..

its just a little internet workhorse, but its running windows xp, was gonna stick windows 7 on there IF i could get a pentium d in there.. its 775 not 478. i might just try it and see what happens.

It's going to be a tough call, what cpu is in there at the moment.

Download CPU-Z, this will give cpu details.

its the SL6Z5. pentium 4ht 2.8ghz 800mhz fsb

P4 and Celeron only by the looks of it.

it says pentium or celeron..

so technicaly a pentium D should work?

swear i saw one listed on ebay with a pentium D

i migt just buy one and see what happens

Problem may be the BIOS does not have the code to recognize the new cpu, worth a shot though, update to the latest BIOS first.

well the A02 revision says support for new cpu's, but doesnt list what cpus it supports! typical dell!

if it doesnt work will just build another computer from the pentium d. like i said its just for internet nothing special.
