Dell Optiplex Memory

Hi all

A friend of mine has a Dell Optiplex and doesn't want it anymore so was going to chuck it, I said i'd happily take it from him, However it only has 4gb RAM... Do these Systems use normal DDR3 modules or are they specific ones?

Brill thanks, I just didn't want to go buying some second hand DDR3 RAM and it doesn't work

Yeah normal memory. Just chucked 16gb of Avexir DDR3 from my old gaming pc in my work pc (Optiplex 9020) and it works a treat.

Thats a bargain then bud, I will probably grab an 8gb kit second hand. Thanks

Yeah should be fine. My memory has heatspeaders on which made clearance extremely tight as it's a SSF unit.

Ohh yeah that's something to consider, I did notice some optiplex PC's are Smaller Form Factor

Yeah there's SFF and uSFF being even smaller! It's been a fantastic machine for me though. It sits in a workshop which can get down to freezing temperatures in winter overnight as well as very hot in summer, but copes just fine. Very neat little machines.

Cheers bud they do seem to sell a few of these even though there older gen
